Chris Burda, co-founder of the band Collapse Under The Empire, uses the creative hiatus of his main project to bring Age of Life to life—an ambitious long-form solo concept exploring the evolution of life on Earth through music. Spanning 2026 and 2027, the project unfolds over nearly 24 months, telling its story across two interconnected albums.
Inspired by cinematic film scores, atmospheric post-rock, electronic music, art rock and the melancholic textures of the 1980s, Age of Life blends expansive soundscapes, emotional depth and immersive storytelling into a unique musical experience.
The debut album, Emergence – Part I, scheduled for release on October 30, 2026, consists of eight instrumental compositions inspired by the first 542 million years of Earth’s history. Each piece represents a distinct evolutionary era while simultaneously reflecting an emotional stage within the overarching narrative. Rather than following a traditional album campaign, Age of Life is released as a carefully structured long-term project. The album was written, performed and produced by Chris Burda, with mixing by Lennard Clément.
Over a period of 24 months, various singles are released—complemented by two EPs— before the two albums Emergence – Part I and Transformation- Part II (release 10/2027) complete the concept, allowing listeners to experience each chapter as part of a continuously evolving musical archive.
Since 2009, Chris Burda. has gained international recognition with his instrumental project Collapse Under The Empire, his music has also been featured in Hollywood trailer productions by James Gunn and several documentaries.
