AUTOMATISM "Immersion":

Automatism is an instrumental rock band from Stockholm, Sweden.

The music of Automatism is based on psych rock, with some added herbal, progressive and modal jazz elements. The band comments: "We look for moments of effortless music creation and try to capture them on record. Most songs are improvised live in the studio, with overdubs added." Their debut album From The Lake (2018) and the follow-up album Into The Sea (2020) was released on vinyl on Tonzonen Records.

Immersion is the third full length release for the label. On the album the band works together with the outstanding musicians Per Wiberg on keyboards (Kamchatka, King Hobo, ex-Opeth), Jesper Skarin on drums (Vak, Gösta Berlings Saga) and Jakob Sjöholm on guitar (Träd, Gräs och Stenar).

Automatism have toured with The Spacelords and Kombynat Robotron in Sweden and Germany, and in 2019 they played together with Acid Rooster at the Psychedelic Network Festival, among others.

WATERTANK "Silent Running":

After years of partial activity through constant line-up moves, Watertank put the final touch to their 3rd record in the summer of 2019. Titled Silent Running, the album is out September 4, 2020, and refers to the idea of evolving behind the scenes, working unexposed. Romain Donet from the punk hardcore band Chaviré joined Watertank during the recording process, and Willy Étié (Weak) is now performing bass duties for (let’s hope) many shows to come.

Because of those personnel changes, this new batch of songs is sounding more rockish than before, but still loud. Watertank is extending their post-hardcore roots with a blend of influences from alternative rock to shoegaze. Lyrically openhearted yet a bit cryptic, a theme emerges throughout the record, inspired by the front cover glass-tardigrade survival features and resilience, but still about to implode, fitting the band ultimately.

SLOMOSA "s/t":

Bringing desert rock from what is probably the least desert country in the world, Norwegian rockers Slomosa are due to release their self-titled debut album on August 28th, which has been highly anticipated ever since debut single Horses, which premiered in October 2019.

Acclaimed Norwegian music journalist Totto Mjelde (NRK P13) claimed it to be “some of the best new music to surface in the last couple of years”, saying the song “took his breath away”. At the end of the year the same radio station picked Horses as one of their five best songs of 2019. Regional newspaper Bergens Tidende proclaimed the band had released “one of the year’s best rock songs” with Horses, raising the expectations for their next release. The following single, There Is Nothing New Under the Sun, also debuted on P13, and Spotify quickly added the song to their official “Stoner Rock” and “Norwegian Rock” playlists.

The songs have amassed 170 000 streams and counting – and with their music’s international reach the band has managed to gain a following in countries such as Sweden, Germany and USA, making the band “Norway’s new shooting stars of huge rock”, music blog The Obelisk aptly put it. The latest single from the upcoming album, is the sun-dazed In My Mind’s Desert, showcasing the band’s ability to make rock songs that appeal not only to the traditional rock crowd.

Ever since their label Apollon Records picked them up immediately following their debut concert in 2017, the band has been working on their debut album. Employing downtuned guitars, heavy grooves and clear vocals, the band relies on thoughtful songwriting not shy of being pop either. After growing up around fjords and mountains in parts of Western Norway, the band members eventually came together in Bergen. Joined by a love for the rock scenes of the past, the band has made a name for themselves with their heavy and catchy sound, dubbed «tundra rock» by the band itself.

With the band seeking to capture their renowned live energy the whole album was recorded live by the band in Polyfon Studio the fall of 2018, with co-producer Eirik Sandvik (Línt, John Olav Nilsen, Romskip). Overdubs and vocals were recorded in Sandvik’s own Marinius Studio at Bergen Kjøtt. Mixed by Sandvik, the album was later mastered by Iver Sandøy (Enslaved, Emmerhoff, Audrey Horne) at Solslottet Studio.

In the fall of 2019 the band recruited bass player Marie Moe of Razika-fame and guitarist Tor Erik Bye, and a couple of months later they signed with booking agent Ragnar Vikse, who had previously worked with Norwegian rock giants Kvelertak for the last ten years, Turbonegro, Enslaved and Graveyard, among many other rock acts. All set for their break, with their eyes set for the future, the band eagerly awaits the future and all it will bring. Hitting home for fans of Queens of the Stone Age, Red Fang and Elder, the self-titled debut
album is out the 28th of August, 2020.
