DUMBSAINT "Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form":

Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form is the debut full- length album from Sydney-based instrumental trio Dumbsaint. Concluding several years of writing and performing, the album is a collection of original compositions demonstrating the band’s talent for blending engaging melodies with demanding musical dynamics.

As part of the Bird’s Robe Records 10th anniversary re-release series, the album will celebrate a decade with a re-release on CD and digital formats this May.

Combining minimalistic ambient sections with moments of intense heaviness and complexity, Dumbsaint takes a deliberately darker and more technical approach to the conventions of the ‘post-rock’ genre.

Well known for presenting a live show in which sound and image interact in the form of an onstage filmic ‘installation’, Dumbsaint are also making available five original videos as a download option with this album release. This will be the first time these visual pieces have been made available for viewing outside of a live performance.

Dumbsaint were originally brought together by love of film and experimental music in 2007. Since then the band has developed a strong local following playing alongside numerous local and international acts including; Russian Circles (USA), Earth (USA), Sleep Parade, Sydonia, sleepmakeswaves, We Lost The Sea, Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving, and Headphones President (JPN). Well respected for their attention to detail, and ability to produce a sound that is deceivingly larger than a three piece, they have won numerous awards with Andrews most recently winning Most Outstanding Drummer 2011 at the annual Noisies Alternative Music Awards.

Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form is an opportunity to discover the epic, dynamic and unique sounds of Dumbsaint.

GangAwry "New High":

Sydney alternative rock group GangAwry will be ushered into the new decade with the re-release of their debut EP New High on all digital platforms.

Originally released in 2005, the 15th anniversary of the debut was set to be celebrated last year, but was quashed by the pandemic.

Now, as part of the Bird’s Robe Records 10th anniversary release series, the band’s music will be shared again for a new generation of fans to enjoy.
Bird’s Robe Director Mike Solo says: "I’ve been a fan of GangAwry ever since I attended their EP launch show at the Annandale Hotel back in 2005. It was exciting to see this confident young group command a room with funky riffs, Sting-like vocals and a bit of math rock thrown in for good measure. I’m really happy to help share their music with people by releasing it digitally for everyone to enjoy.

Bursting onto the Australian rock scene in the mid-00s, GangAwry were quick to earn industry attention, signing to the legendary Harry Vanda’s label Flashpoint. Their live show soon attracted fans of their blend of Rage Against The Machine, meets King Crimson, meets The Police sounds.

From launching the record at a packed hometown show at the iconic Annandale Hotel, to supporting King Crimson frontman Adrian Belew on his successful Australian tour and Australian rock legends The Angels, the band saw positive reviews and accolades come their way, as they continued to write towards their debut full length album Politics.

The 4-track EP features fan favourites Needing A New High and Dig What Wires Me.

NEUMATIC PARLO "Random Toaster":

Melancholia! Where your face should be reflected on the glittering surface of the Rhine, there is nothing but emptiness. The river carries our thoughts away in an endless stream of doubt and teenage angst. An intense longing located somewhere between Düsseldorf's notorious old town and the Oberkassel district on the other side of the Rhine. Where could rebellion against boredom thrive better than here in Düsseldorf's uptown? In an area of tension between deceptive wealth, abonded sub culture spaces and the fabled salon des amateurs, there’s something cooking and suddenly Oberkassel and L.A. are not that far away anymore.

On their second EP Random Toaster Neumatic Parlo play melancholic psychedelic pop. Gloomy lyrics meet delicate melodies and dreamy soundscapes. Vincent Göttler, Justin Jansen, Luis Wedekind, Frederick Oltersdorf and Simon Hartmann create a sound that is simultaneously international but with Motorik, synthesizers and rattling guitars always rooted in the tradition of their hometown. As if he were an antihero of the early 80s, Göttler sings about fear, doubt and a long search. The answer whether he will find what he is looking for is still pending, but the existential need already sounds just like honey.

After their debut EP All Purpose Slicer still sounded like post punk and no wave, Neumatic Parlo are much more psychedelic and playful on Random Toaster. Sometimes that sounds a little like Yo La Tengo or as grueling and noisy as a Ty Segall. Songs like Real Insight and Airplane rave about dark romantic trips into other spheres, while Nicolas Winding Refn is a scenario full of paranoia that could have sprung from a film by the same Danish cult director. The anxiety becomes almost palpable when Göttler's nervous vocal line lies over a rumbling drum kit and is then literally overrun by a wall of guitars and noise. In Lake Perris State Recreation Area Neumatic Parlo reveal the band's own myth and tell of the joint road trip to the Desert Daze Festival in the Californian desert. In addition to countless Fuzz War escapades, it was an appearance by Slowdive that clearly left its mark here. For the recordings of Random Toaster, the band and producer Patrick Stäudle retired to a farm in the Black Forest. Seclusion and inner contemplation clearly reverberate here.

STONE CAVALLI "Social Kaos":

STONE CAVALLI, is a rush of rock and roll full of energy and no- nonsense. Drums, guitar and keyboards create a mix that flirts with punk and new wave. The Tarricone brothers deliver a sound that is both arid and violent. Electro sounds clash with the more organic sounds of their instruments. STONE CAVALLI underlines the force of its Italian roots and is the ideal soundtrack for Bukowsky novel...

Simon (vocals/guitar) plunges you into the void of his determined growl. Meanwhile, his guitar incarnates impudent and raw rock. Benjamin (drums/machines) hits hard! His powerful and fluid style rhythms the darkness of his keys creating a mix that is dizzying, light and obsessive at the same time. STONE CAVALLI’s new EP Social Kaos, is an immediate slap in the face, both dense and spontaneous.

MILES OLIVER "Between The Woods":

Miles Oliver is a parisian songwriter, swinging electric & acoustic guitar, piano and loops. An alchemy between lo-fi rock, folk and poetry that makes you think about Bonnie Prince Billy, Sonic Youth and Troy Von Balthazar.

After a 3 weeks tour in the USA, words, images and songs came to mind when Miles OIiver came back. First, he put all these feelings down in the book Between The Words, that he wrote during the year 2019. Miles was working on some songs and all the images combined themselves for the 4th album titled Between The Woods. Both book and music are living together through a story of 12 tracks of music and words.

"Between The Woods is my US vision, the American culture that I created for myself: from the acapella blues folk roots in Save Me and alienated minds in Deamontia to 3/8 Tarot esoterism and the crunchy shamanism of a friend’s loss in June 66, through a women’s revenge to their oppressor in the noisy The Song I Hate and the complaining song for Kurt Cobain’s ghost in Myberdeen, until This Is A Lie’s melancholic dance, each track is an individual portrait, a living character in our present tense."

Miles Oliver wanted to build these lo-fi songs from A to Z by doing the entire process of recording and mixing by himself. The most important aspect is the song and not its look.

JORDSJO "Pastoralia":

The following in the tradition of some of the best Nordic rock from the last century, Jordsjø manages to meld progressive rock with fantastic melodies and a folkish twist. Spanning a musical journey from minimalist mellotron passages to full on rock tempest, Pastoralia is a must for any fan of Scandinavian prog, but also a gem to be discovered by the novice.

Jordsjø is a duo from Oslo, Norway inspired by Olivier Messiaen, (German) Popol Vuh and Anthony Braxton, via Scandinavian folklore and jazz to early British prog. Pastoralia is their third studio album, which sees the band travelling further into jazzy, progressive musical landscapes. Pastoralia was recorded and produced in its entirety by Jordsjø between March and November 2020, in the basement of Bjørnerud Farm in Våler, Østfold. Thematically, the album is based on dreams, a longing for freedom and the fictional place Pastoralia – where every day is like tropical nights in Nothern Norway, where the forest people dance around campfires.

The band consists of multiinstrumentalist Håkon Oftung (Tusmørke, Black Magic) and drummer Kristian Frøland, with guest appearanced by Ola Mile Bruland (Actionfredag), Håkon Knutzen, Vilde Mortensen Storesund, Mats Lemjan, Christian Meaas Svendsen and Åsa Ree (MEER, Tusmørke, Wobbler).

OH NO NOH "Where One Begins And The Other Stops":

Oh No Noh is searching for beauty in unconventional musical settings, obsolete technology and daily surroundings.

"Soundtrack for the end of a planet, played on machines with the sole purpose of an everlasting repair" say press reviews, and it’s true: Oh
No Noh’s live setup, an assembly of electric guitar, programmable robots and a Tapedeck resembles a laboratory and yet produces a catchy mix of Indie, Ambient, Minimal Music und Electronica.

Markus Rom is protagonist of this long-time-experiment and started working with this alter ego in 2019. He released a self-titled EP at TELESKOP, played several concerts and festivals and worked in diverse interdisciplinary collaborations.

SOUNDS OF NEW SOMA "Trip":

Cosmic sound encounters of the third kind. Two music enthusiasts have immersed themselves deeply in a plethora of genres from the far side of the mainstream. They formed Sounds Of New Soma in 2013 in order to materialize their tonal vision of a cosmic voyage in the aftermath of a psychedelic trip.

Trip is the new album by the electro/ avant-garde/ neo-krautrock duo Alexander Djelassiand Dirk Raupach. It comprises only one long track with the significant title Trip.

Sounds Of New Soma is rightly associated with the so-called "Berlin School", whose representatives include Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Manuel Göttsching. But Sounds Of New Soma are more, which is made clear once again on Trip. The band transports the genre into the modern age and experiments with sound structures again and again. For a Trip you take your time, let yourself fall into the music and enjoy the experience.
