OAK "False Memory Archive":

Oak is a Norwegian progressive/ art rock band that originally emerged from a folk-rock duo. The four members have a diverse background spanning from classical piano to electronica, prog- and hard-rock, with references to the alternative scene as well as progressive rock – something that has combined to make a distinguished and unique sound. Mixing this with great musical skills and a vision of being accessible to a wide audience resulted in their debut album Lighthouse in 2013.

Five years later, they are back with the stunning follow-up False Memory Archive. A natural continuation from Lighthouse, to which it has several small nods and references. The album has been meticulously crafted, with more use of electronics and low bass frequencies. It is both darker and groovier than its predecessor, while still sounding familiarly like Oak. They have taken several steps as songwriters and musicians, and ended up in a slightly darker and progressive territory – where the light still shines through in shape of catchy elements and stunning vocal harmonies, which creates the duality that defines them as a band.

The band has a wide source of inspiration - Opeth, Ulver, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Depeche Mode, Mew, Simon & Garfunkel, John Martyn, Massive Attack, Jeff Buckley – And also classical composers like Chopin, Bach and Dvořák; and film composers like Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams, James Horner and John Williams. No wonder that Oak really doesn't sound like anything else.

False Memory Archive was recorded in Ljugekroken Studio and Tøyen church, and was mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren with Oak at Fascination Studios.

BLACKBERRIES "Disturbia":

The days in which challenging music could trouble the charts are certainly long gone but there'll always be people into music that is more than just some background noise. There'll also always be people who play music you have to listen to.

Blackberries are taking that challenge for quite some time now and while remaining a kind of best kept secret in the German Psych and Kraut- Scene the world is beginning to take notice.

Their energetic and intense live shows earned them a rapidly growing reputation as one of the most fascinating acts around. Big festivals in America, Canada and even China received the message and invited the band to add their own colour to the mix.

While their last album Greenwhich Mean Time got praised in magazines like Rolling Stone and one of their American shows got a rave review in Shindig! Magazine they wasted no time to record their third album Disturbia which was mixed and mastered at Ice Cream Factory Studios, Austin, Texas.

Their last album was a new start, Disturbia is a natural evolution.

The experience of hundreds of live shows is all over these nine brilliant new songs that still draw on their Kraut- and Psych-Roots but also have a fresh and modern urgency. While the melodic strength still shines bright as one of the key elements, the themes of these new tunes have become considerably darker.

The band is well aware of the dangerous change of political climate. The record reflects these observations in gritty songs about violence, ignorance and loneliness without forgetting the age old but still relevant message of understanding each other and trying to find the "we" in all the "I me mine".

So to everyone who likes music that can shake you up and take you places make sure to keep an eye out for these four young men who call themselves Blackberries.

LJUNGBLUT "Villa Carlotta 5959":

Ljungblut originally started out as a solo project from Seigmen/ Zeromancer bass player and main songwriter Kim Ljung in 2005.

He needed an outlet for songs which didn’t fit in with his main bands. After three solo albums in English, the project evolved into a full quintet – and they released two independent albums in Norwegian.

Villa Carlotta 5959 is the sixth Ljungblut album, and the last in a trilogy of albums with Norwegian lyrics. Here, several songs have historical references. Hasselblad about the 12 Hasselblad cameras left behind on the surface of the Moon. Superga referring to the Superga height outside Torino, most known for the cathedral and the plane crash that killed the Torino football team in 1949. Then there are songs referring to Ljung’s chronic migraine – Min Krig (My war) and Aldri helt stille (Never completely quiet).

The album has a wide range of tempos and dynamics, but at the same time a cohesive sound and melancholy mood. An organic sound with Kim Ljung’s characteristic voice surrounded by a plethora of vintage synths and instruments. The basis of the album was recorded live in studio and mixed by Alex Møklebust (Seigmen/ Zeromancer) and Terje Johannesen.

ACTION & TENSION & SPACE "Skaredalen Funhouse":

Action & Tension & Space is a spaced out instrumental lo-fi lounge outfit from Norway, consisting of members from bands like The Low Frequency in Stereo, Lumen Drones, Electric Eye, Soft Ride, Ape Club, Undergrünnen and the European backing band for Ryley Walker.

The band released their self titled debut album on Made in Haugesund way back in 2012 and are now ready with their second album called Skåredalen Funhouse.

The music on Skåredalen Funhouse is based on groovy basslines, chilling combo organs, smooth drums, crispy guitars and a surfing lap-steel. If you combine the ambience from The Necks, the lounge feel of The Friends of Dean Martinez, and the travelling spirit of Neu mixed together in an apocalyptic The Doors vibe - then you get ATS!

The new album Skåredalen Funhouse is inspired by an actual house of the same name. The notorious house is somewhere outside of downtown Haugesund (south-west coast of Norway), without anyone knowing for sure exactly where it is. The mystery continues.

SPEAKER BITE ME "Future Plans":

Speaker Bite Me are back after 11 years with a new album!

Danish experimental rock quartet Speaker Bite Me will release their 6th album Future Plans on October 12, 2018.

Even though it has been 11 years since their latest album Action Painting, the band never split up. On the contrary, they have always been in touch, composing and playing live.

Martin Ilja Ryum (vocals and guitar), Kasper Deurell (bass); Emil Landgren (drums) and Signe Høirup Wille- Jørgensen (vocals and guitar) have pretty much their own way of working and writing. It’s like a solid marriage, where everything has to be in good harmony, before they release anything new. But that time is now! Future Plans was written in frustration and with this release the quartet shows that age isn’t hindering anything, neither fresh curiousity nor a seek for violence in their sound.

Future Plans is based on frustration at the crisis that we are experiencing.

Signe on the themes of the album: "Denmark has always been a divided country, but for the last decades we have seen a polarization. The gap between the poor and the rich has grown. You see this everywhere in Europe. The relation between people disapears. Maybe because we fell powerless. We get self centered? Instead of enjoying our wealth, we fight to keep our own surplus. We try to look at all that on the album. We all need to stay together give real meaning to our lives, without anxiety. We need to focus and concentrate, so that we all, together, can solve today's problems. We hope that our music can be part of that and release some of the tension."

As Speaker Bite Me sing on the title track: "A call for future plans / We believe we all must go / Go!"

Speaker Bite Me did find a new ally in Nis Bysted (Iceage, Lower, Choir of Young Believers a.o.) who was in charge of the mixing of the album. He was the best equipped to capture the noise that Speaker Bite Me wants to communicate as a band. Therefore the album is recorded live and the result is a real and authentic rock album.
