AIRBAG "A Day At The Beach":

It’s been 4 years, but finally the fifth album from Airbag will be released on June 19th on Karisma Records, and it has definitely been worth the wait.

A Day At The Beach features six new songs recorded during autumn and winter of 2019- 20. Inspired by the resurgence of 1980s electronica, new wave and movie scores, Airbag has created a powerful sound combining ethereal soundscapes with their signature guitar driven progressive rock.

The result is a stunning selection of songs revealing a mature band looking forward, with an impressive legacy.

Airbag explains: "The album is the result of a strong collaboration between all three of us. Having lost two original members since our last album, we were forced to rethink how we write and create new music, but it also allowed us to venture into something new that turned out to be very inspiring."

Lyrically, A Day At The Beach is very much a story of us and them, told by a husband, father and brother leaving his family behind into an unknown future. It’s the contrast between the desperate individual struggling to survive and people in power observing at a safe distance.

For the production of A Day At The Beach, Airbag has once again teamed up with long-time collaborator and engineer Vegard Sleipnes, and it was mastered by Jacob Holm-Lupo. The album is produced by Asle Tostrup and Bjørn Riis, and, as always, the cover is designed by vocalist Tostrup. The album, which is their first as a trio, also features talented guest musicians including Kristian Hultgren (Wobbler).

ARABS IN ASPIC "Madness and Magic":

Hailing from Trondheim in Norway, Arabs In Aspic has been mid-Norway’s flagship of 70s inspired progressive rock and proto-hardrock for the past 15 years. They’ve been described as a sweet mixture of loud, heavy guitars and drums, 12 string acoustics, funky bass and percussion, screaming Hammond organs, soft Rhodes, Mellotrons and 70s Synths, topped with plentiful vocal harmonies - and this is also what they give us on their seventh album.

Madness Apnd Magic builds on where they left on Syndenes Magi, showcasing the acoustic side of the band more without losing any of their heaviness. This is evident in the fact that Madness And Magic is their first album written and recorded with two unique drummers.

About the lyrical themes, the band says: "The lyrics of Madness And Magic " reflect on how easily both children and adults are affected in the digital age, but also how helpless we are when we have to put our lives in the hands of specialists. Many ideas came up after a brief meeting with Doctor Death. The message of Madness And Magic is up to the listener to decide. Because you are capable of thinking for yourself, right?"

The new album from Arabs In Aspic takes the listener for a journey through Madness And Magic, both musically and lyrically, and what an awesome journey it is!

SHAMAN ELEPHANT "Wide Awake But Still Asleep":

When Shaman Elephant's debut album Crystals hit the streets in late 2016, Prog fans sat up and took notice of a band that was able to demonstrate an uncanny skill in the art of blending 60’s and 70’s psychedelia with progressive rock, and who sounded impressive not just in the studio, but also on stage - as fans who witnessed their shows in Norway and Europe are able to attest. And now, after honing those skills even further, Shaman Elephant are back with Wide Awake But Still Asleep, an album that demonstrates just how much the band has matured as songwriters and musicians, whilst not losing any of that considerable Shaman Elephant charm.

As the band says themselves: "With this album we feel like we have found out who we want to be as a band. Whilst the first album was going in all directions, this album feels more focused and mature. “Wide Awake But Still Asleep” is our attempt at making the melodies move like butterflies while the grooves sting like killer bees."

With yet another killer production from Iver Sandøy (drummer of Enslaved) at Solslottet Studio, with Wide Awake But Still Asleep Shaman Elephant has produced one hell of a follow up album.

SMOKEMASTER "s/t":

Smokemaster is a psychedelic rock band from Cologne, Germany. Their musical spectrum ranges from slow and spherical parts that are reminiscent of Pink Floyd to colourful jam parts that remind you of The Doors or Colour Haze.

The self-titled debut album starts with gentle tones. The first track Solar Flares starts quite slowly and takes the listener on a musical journey. However, this dream-like journey abruptly ends when they speed up with their song Trippin' Blues which is a blues-rock sing. This is the first time on the album that singer Björn Bear presents his warm voice. Ear Of The Universe is the third and longest song on the album. It's about ten minutes long and as intense as Trippin' Blues. It starts as a mid-tempo krautrock number, however this changes and the song evolves from colourful jam parts to an epic kind of post rock song. Sunrise In The Canyon, a song that might remind you of Tarantino's Wild West movies. On Astronaut Of Love the band dives into real stoner rock, starting with a fuzzy bass riff which is later supported by heavy guitar. It is the last time on this album you will hear Björnsen Bear's warm voice. The song ends with an epic and massive organ. Finally, the last track Astral Traveller, is a 60s or 70s heav psychedelic song that is moving forward constantly before guitarist Jay starts with a solo that sends you to a far away universe - or to another dimension.

Smokemaster are extremely happy about working with the sound genius Eroc, who is widely known as the drummer of the German band Grobschnitt. The band is one of the bands of the golden age of krautrock. With his dedication and commitment Eroc gave the album the brilliance and power Smokemaster wanted to achive.

The first single, Astral Traveller, will be released with a video that was directed by psychedelic artist Larry Carlson from New York.

UNTITLED WITH DRUMS "Hollow":

Untitled With Drums formed 2014 as a five-piece rock band from Clermont-Ferrand, France. With a wide array of influences such as Failure, Slint, Shipping News, True Widow or Cave In, Untitled With Drums puts a fresh spin on alternative rock by incorporating the raw noise of the 90s with a modern progressive post-rock vibe.

After touring in support of their first EP S/T W/D (2017), Untitled With Drums started working in their debut LP. The result is the 10 track album Hollow, which was recorded by infamous Serge Morattel at Rec Studio (Knut, Shora, Unhold, Impure Wilhelmina, Year Of No Light, Tantrum...) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Hollow was recorded live in studio to retain the organic feel and the energy of their live shows. The guitars abd synth parts were then re-recorded in order to craft the heavy, lush atmosphere Serge Morattel's productions are acclaimed for.

To maintain consistency between music and visuals, Untitled With Drums' songwriter and bass player Martin Le Borgne is also responsible for artwork and art direction of Hollow.

SOLKYRI "Mount Pleasant":

Australian post-rockers Solkyri are back with a new album Mount Pleasant and new live shows to launch the record in Europe and the UK (touring alongside fellow Australian post-rock legends We Lost The Sea)!

Mount Pleasant is Solkyri’s long-awaited follow up their 2015 release Sad Boys Club. This record sees the band further build upon their unique approach to post-rock, reaching new limits of aggression, intricacy and intimacy. With Mount Pleasant the band strives to push the boundaries of both sides of its personality, its unyielding energy and its tender moments of vulnerability. Mount Pleasant is the culmination of years of personal reflection and rediscovery of passion. The lead singles Holding Pattern and Pendock & Progress show the band are still at the peak of their powers on record, and adept at blending nostalgia & pulsing adrenalin within a song.

The record was inspired by the theme of deception, deceit and false facades. Tracks like Potemkin, one of the more unrelenting songs on this album, takes inspiration from the architecture of the Potemkin Village, a construction used to deceive others into believing a situation is better than it is. Similarly, closing track Gueules Cassées, is a reference to the ‘broken faces’ of French soldiers who suffered horrific facial mutilations from the first war in history fought on an industrial scale. The track attempts to invoke the horror and chaos of a war that was advertised as a sporting adventure with your mates.
In contrast, tracks like Meet Me In The Meadow, a delicate Rhodes-driven piece ,showcases new ground broken by the band in their approach to song craft, allowing members to experiment with new configurations within the band.

While Solkyri have explored new territory on this record, they have also honed their style of energetic post-rock laden with pop melodies on tracks like Pendock & Progress and Shambles. Both tracks are built around the interplay of guitars and driving rhythms, with nods to math-rock, shoegaze and ambient music. As such, they fit seamlessly into Solkyri’s already dynamic live sets.
For this album, Solkyri opted to self-produce, with guitarist Ryan Fitz-Henry taking the helm. The record, like previous records, was mixed by Dax Liniere at his state of the art studio in London. The process allowed the band to hone the production whilst progressing themselves personally and professionally – a new model for many artists in this day and age.

The band are renowned for their fiery and powerful live performances. So it’s fitting they’ll launch the record with shows in their homeland before heading overseas to Europe again. In March they will celebrate upcoming album in Melbourne on Friday 6 March, playing alongside Japanese legends Mono at Max Watts. Then on Saturday 28 March they’ll launch the record in their hometown of Sydney at The Factory Floor. Following these dates, the band will return to Europe to play Belgium’s dunk!festival and support fellow Sydneysiders We Lost The Sea on a four-week series of shows around the UK and Europe in May & June, showcasing a career-spanning set of songs.

LESS WIN "Given Light":

The third album Given Light finds Less Win at their most explosive and introverted yet; as if guarding something with all their might, tensing every musical muscle.

Writing a new album never comes easy. Once the Copenhagen trio had come back from a huge touring spree promoting their 2016 album Trust, (that sold out two weeks after release) all three band members took a few months off to regroup and returned, creatively restless, with a wish to write in a structured way with each individual member acting as a separate songwriter to work on and build collectively. The process was long, hard and draining, and nothing tangible was emerging from their creative bedrock, so they scrapped at least one album’s worth of music on the spot.

After taking an adopted ‘tabula rasa’ approach: "We gave no thought to our earlier material, to our friends in other bands or to the record label. Material was to be written quickly; all preconceived material was to be disallowed. Criticism and editing of material during the writing process was to be swift and decisive," says drummer Matthew Moller. If any doubts were raised about the material, it would be scrapped and they would start again.

With this approach, writing was finished in a couple of brutal weeks, the studio was booked, finishing touches were considered and recording and mixing took place over a four-five day session at Black Tornado Studios in Copenhagen.

Gone are the string section and the avantgarde saxophone bursts from Trust; dirgy, soul-tinged group horns, percussion, distant harmonica, flamenco guitar and piercing lonesome viola taking their place. The result sees post-punk, art rock and flamenco sensibilities meet in a furious mesh of relentless, yet melodic songs. The flamenco touches, especially, loom large; Casper Morilla (also of Iceage) has spent the years since Trust studying flamenco, adding a severity and finesse to his playing that has coloured the whole album: "The touch of flamenco, which I feel so strongly about, as an ingredient and how we write together, has been a means to transmitting the stories, advice and sentiments expressed on this album." he says. Fittingly, the title, Given Light, is a Spanish saying for giving birth.

CUB "Ouais":

Ça + SubmarineFM = Çub. After Musique Actuelle (2017) the new record titled Ouais is here!

Çub is still a crazy rock electro band and since the meeting of Ça and Submarine FM some years ago, Çub has produced music that is both violent and tickling.

Çub is all kinds of electronic sound but played with real instruments. Çub ha not invented a new fusion, Çub is truly in fusion: in constant transition from one state to another. Beware of balances and paths that are all mapped out. A live show from Çub is a burst, a cutaneous eruption. Why? Because everyone hates smooth skin.
