ACTION & TENSION & SPACE "Explosive Meditations":

Action & Tension and Space, the spaced out instrumental outfit from Norway, consisting of members from The Low Frequency In Stereo, Electric Eye, Soft Ride, Ape Club and Lumen Drones are out with their third album Explosive Meditations 4th of October on Kapitän Platte.

Free improvised and travelling up-right bass, chill-out combo organ, smooth drums, crispy guitars and a surfing lap-steel. If you combine the ambience from the Necks and the doomsday revelations of Pink Floyd's A Saucerful Of Secrets you can get to where Action & Tension & Space are on their new album Explosive Meditations.

Explosive Meditations was recorded on the island Karmøy on the west coast of Norway during two days with heavy rain showers and storm rumbling outside the studio windows which influenced the band towards a sonic, impulsive and dynamic mood, which resulted in three tracks and 40 minutes of abstract yet groovy music.

HALMA "The Ground":

While Halma have leaned far out of the window on their predecessor album Granular, in fact so far and wide that comet Tschurjumow- Gerassimenko came into view, Halma are now digging into the depths of the world with their new recording The Ground.

Whirlpools of crystals drill into the ground, it grinds and flows, carbon becomes diamonds. On The Ground the band drives six new tracks with racing drill deep into our consciousness. Halma turn around mountain tops, they flow back into the depths, like mountains from below. The band seems to know the old mountaineering wisdom that Gipfelglück is indeed dangerous; and so the German quartet proves that they are stable on their feet and manage the descent into the abysmal regions with sovereign elegance. It is admirable how much attention Halma can pay to paths, tracks and marks in detrital.

Hiker: Paths are created where you walk them, and in low altitudes one is at home, and in deep substance Halma is at home.

DEAD HIPPIES "Resister":

Arnaud Fournier is the lead guitarist in The Hint and La Phaze. He now returns with the new album Resister of his Dead Hippies project.

With more than 1000 live shows around the world, and having released over dozen albums of very different styles, Arnaud has once again taken up the challenge of breaking down genre barriers, by creating a bridge between noisy-post-rock, electro and dance-floor music. The Dead Hippies ensemble presents powerful and haunting music on Resister, combining binary and massive beats. Resister is heavily based on Electro basslines, distorted and heavy melodies. Dead Hippies is still this noisy-dance hybrid: massive electro-dubstep beats on which many guitars (Arnaud's DNA) are still embedded. After the mainly instrumental debut album Kill Me Sweety (2013), Resister provides a new direction to the project with the arrival of the British soprano Dylan Bendall ( Lab°, Schoolbusdriver) and his distinctive voice alternating between hip-hop and punk; and the super powerful featuring of American rapper Mr J. Medeiros ( The Procussions, Alltta, The Knives) on the title track. The album is more compact but does not lack relief, 10 tracks-uppercut with a variable sensory impact. Some tracks stand out for their more cinematographic aspects, with slower bpm, melodies that smell like the dust of a good old Spaghetti Western.

Dead Hippies is five guitars (Fender Jazzmaster) on stage, live they offer to reconcile body and mind, dance and pure feedback; a bit like Foreign Beggars flirting with Mogwai or Sonic Youth being remixed by The Bloody Beetroots.

OKIDOKI "When Oki Meets Doki":

Okidoki is a quartet created by Laurent Rochelle in 2015 mixing 3 french musicians and the German singer Anja Kowalski. They play original compositions of minimalist jazz-pop music with lyrics in German, English and French.

Okidoki presents the new EP When Oki Meets Doki in the form of a fantasy journey to the land of the rising sun. Strongly inspired by the work of the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami (explicitly mentioned in the title of the first piece), When Oki Meets Doki opens the doors of a sublunary and surreal parallel world, where the imagination makes any unlikely encounter possible, where beauty blends with the strange and the sensible is adorned with luminous sweetness.

When Oki Meets Doki is a tale imagined on solar, organic and heady music, populated with polyglot words and impressionistic sounds, the soundtrack of a road movie with narcotic vapors, a singular musical odyssey that summons our children’s souls. As a bonus, the new EP includes a remix by the famous Tanuki fox. When Miyazaki meets Murakami.

TIMELOST "Don't Remember Me For This":

What started as a file-sharing effort between two metalhead friends who sought to explore their own musical lusts, TIMELOST transformed into an emotionally charged diary of honesty, self-evolution, loss, and pain. Philadelphia’s TIMELOST, will deliver their powerful debut full-length, Don’t Remember Me For This on October 25th via Golden Antenna Records and To Live A Lie Records. Don’t Remember Me For This delivers the triumphant anthems 2019 has been begging for.

Don’t Remember Me For This is bursting with dynamic punk velocity, nostalgic feelings of shoegazey grunge and intertwined with infec- tiously rippling sadness. Lush with the bands influences on their sleeves, TIMELOST mix just enough angst and grungy aggression with post-rock and dark-waving melancholy to create hazy, seductive soundtracks. 11 brand new tracks showcase the bands attention to textual and sonic detail while capturing the fury of a driving and blasting rhythm section.

"We didn’t set out for this to be a concept album but there is definitely a theme within the lyrics", comments TIMELOST frontman Shane Handal. "We wanted to be honest and wrote what was real to us. It just so happened we both were going through a lot at the time we were writing the album. It’s weird to throw yourself out there to the world and be so vulnerable but it felt honest and real. We wanted to put out a genuine record from the music to the lyrics."

Singer and guitarist Shane Handal (Set & Setting) and drummer Grzesiek Czapla (Woe) entered Uniform Recording in Philadelphia, PA in August of 2018. Looking to set the perfect tone, the duo partnered with recording engineer, Jeff Zeigler (War On Drugs, Kurt Vile, Nothing) and recorded over 15 days, playing every instrument. With the help of mixing engineer, Ryan Haft (Torche, Wrong) and mastering engineer, Ed Brooks (REM, Death Cab For Cutie, Minus The Bear), Don’t Remember Me For This came to life.

After several live shows in Germany, Noorvik's second album Omission will be released on 4th October 2019 via Tonzonen Records, following a live tour to present the new album.

On Omission the band continues to explore new boundaries and refines its chosen path since the band's debut. In the future there will be no getting around that small Alaskan town, musically speaking.

NAZCA SPACE FOX "Pi":

The self titled debut album from instrumental rock band Nazca Space Fox was released in 2017, it sold out soon. Now, after numerous live shows (e.g. with ¡Pendejo!, Powder for Pigeons, The Sonic Dawn, Thundermother, Giöbia, Electric Moon) and gigs at major festivals (Burg Herzberg, PsyKa), Nazca Space Fox are back with their second album Pi, which stands for the Indian expression for place or location.

Pi was recorded in several live sessions and now German trio Nazca Space Fox has now reached the place where they feel most comfortable: Between big melodies, loud, groovy riffs and fragile sound parts. The 6 tracks on Pi are more structured and focused than before, yet improvisation was given enough space to unfold. The basic instruments speak for themselves: drums, guitar, bass. Groovy and powerful. Light and fragile. Post-Rock merges with Stoner & Psychedelic.

SONS OF ALPHA CENTAURI "Buried Memories":

Sons of Alpha Centauri are back to release Buried Memories, a collaborative post metal colossus and the second part of the journey that started with last album Continuum (2018).

This unique release has been mixed by industrial metal icon Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu...) and ambient gloom metal maestro James Plotkin (Khanate, Jodis etc.). Buried Memories contains two 10 minute slabs of eclectic ambient progressive rock and a series of interpretative remixes of the theme tracks by both Broadrick and Plotkin.

Justin Broadrick collaborates with the band on side A through the progressive riff saga of Hitmen which he has mixed and also provided two remixes in his guise as Jesu and another as the eponymous JK Flesh. These three staggering pieces of music elapse over 27 minutes of pure instrumental voyage in a way only Sons of Alpha Centauri and Justin Broadrick could deliver!

James Plotkin and SOAC collaborate through several tracks including Warhero a sprawling 10 minute odyssey and a masterful remix of SS Montgomery - the single from the bands classic instrumental landmark debut album.

After entering the Continuum the listener must now bury their memories. The darkness will envelope the listeners in this second part of their epic sprawling progressive dark rock saga.

LUCY KRUGER & THE LOST BOYS "Sleeping Tapes For Some Girls":

Lucy Kruger is a singer/songwriter from Cape Town, South Africa who recently moved to Berlin. Her performance focuses on the bare bones of the songs, a slow burning psychedelic folk that is both intimate and ambient. Dreamscapes set against drones allow the stories to drift and dive, fall asleep and come to life.

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys’ first LP Summer’s Not That Simple was released in partnership with independent South African label Permanent Record. The album holds a sea of guitars in conversation with almost whispered thoughts.

In September this year she will release her second full length album Sleeping Tapes for Some Girls through Unique Records. The new album is made to be a quiet companion for restless evenings. The album was recorded just before Lucy moved from Cape Town to Berlin in May last year. She had been quietly spinning a soft web of songs and wanted to capture the feeling before leaving. Sleeping Tapes for Some Girls was made with a very specific listener in mind. For the last few years Lucy has gone to bed listening to the stories and sounds of songwriters that have became close companions, both challenging and nurturing her and eventually gifting her rest. She wanted to give something of the same to those who might need it.

The arrangements are minimal and leave space for Lucy’s voice and guitar which are present throughout - reflecting, resisting and trying to reason with conflicted thought.

Lucy Kruger has shared the first two singles and accompanying videos for The Ocean at Night and Half of A Woman, as well as Digging A Hole.

WIRES & LIGHTS "A Chasm Here And Now":

When you find yourself struggling to find suitable references and apt descriptions to somehow classify the sudden enthusiasm about a new record, it can quickly lead to despair. Even when you're searching within roughly the right category (post-punk: you know – melody, substance, rock line-up and so on), and still fail hopelessly, then one thing is clear: No matter what you do, hold on to that record firmly and don't let it go!

A Chasm Here And Now is the long awaited debut album of Justin Stephens' (ex-Passion Play) current band Wires & Lights, with which the Berlin quartet redeems everything they announced at live shows and on the Pagan Love Songs Vol. 3 compilation in 2014 with an early demo version of Swimming.

Right from the off, the brilliant opener Drive leaves nothing to be desired in terms of thrilling, hymnic danceability: "Turn up your drive / ‘til you're racing ahead of the noise of life" is just epic! A grandiosely updated Swimming sustains the urgent sense of drive unconventionally, before Anyone, one of the most gripping and sweeping mid-tempo ballads of recent years, changes down a gear. And that was just the beginning.

Every time you think you've grasped the band musically, they immediately prove you wrong with the next track. Beyond predictability and within a broad, but nonetheless navigable aesthetic corridor, Justin Stephens and his comrades-in-arms – Ralf Hünefeld on guitar and keyboards, Gabriel Brero on bass and Sebastian Hilgetag on drums – display with A Chasm Here And Now one thing above all: Songs of this calibre cannot possibly be created by beginners. What is so rich in content, so versatile but never arbitrary, and yet seems to flow so naturally, can only be the result of rich experience and many years of dedication. The high-quality production in Berlins Trixx Studios is the technical equivalent of the artistic premiere league in which A Chasm Here And Now plays.

In addition to pure listening pleasure, Justin's incomparable lyrics offer unpretentious depth in a manner that is rarely found. They inspire in their entirety just as they function as one-liner fragmented aphorisms ("reality stayed when your reason abandoned"). Thus Wires & Lights are the very embodiment of the enlightening message to which they owe their name: It's all there; you just have to help yourself.

And if you’re still in any doubt, listen to the conclusion of the album: Going, Going, Gone – this masterfully polished gem of a song, with its New Model Army-like bubbling structure, its genetic connection with Passion Play's Running On Empty and its epic deliverance will be a classic for all time that everyone always wants to hear.
